Maryland Casino Education
Launch a new career as a casino dealer!
- Maryland would keep about 67 percent of the revenue from slots, with most - roughly half of all casino revenue - going to an Education Trust Fund dedicated to schools.
- Instead, the state has increased education spending by over $127 million on top of all revenue brought in by the Maryland casinos. Operating Budget analysis on the Maryland General Assembly website provide the following information on state spending (figures in millions, based on fiscal year spending): FY 10 actual education spending $5,230.619.
- In 2011, casinos contributed $50 million to the Education Trust Fund; in 2013, $284 million; in 2015, $350 million. Projections for last year are $500 million — in total, $2 billion since 2011. If you’ve been wondering about the influx of casino cash lawmakers promised when casino gambling passed in Maryland, you’re not alone. Talk about school.
